He’d thought that Rapunzel would fall for his trick and reveal where she was hiding. “Rats” he pouted. He kept looking, finding some more of the boys. “Wait…I see feet” he looked at the curtain.” He ran over and peeked behind the curtain to see Rapunzel and one of the other boys. “I found you!”

"we do match, like a true prince and princess" he smiled at her. "Will you be my first dance partner then my little lady?" He asked her and gave her a little bow.

Her eyebrows rose as she heard a voice behind the curtain notice their feet.  “Uh oh”  the boy whispered and it wasn’t long before the curtain tore away to show them hiding behind it.  She laughed, “You got us”  She held out her hands in defeat, “You’re a good finder”.

"Really?!"  The girl bounced in excitement.  "Yaay!"

"Can I dance after?"  Another asked, tugging at his shirt and pouting.

"I know" the boy smiled from ear to ear when she complimented his finding abilities. "Do you want to find us now princess?"

"Of course" he  bent down a little and took the little girl’s hands in his as he started to dance with her. "Don’t worry. I’ll dance with all of you little princesses" he said to the other girls.

Once the young boy covered his eyes everyone including her scattered.  Rapunzel ran behind a curtain then quickly pulled it over her body.

"Princess!  I don’t know where to hide"  One of the younger boys whispered desperately and she quickly directed him behind the curtain with her.

"You look handsome!"  The girls cooed as they put on their dressed over their clothing.  "Eugene!  Will you help me button up the back of this dress?"  Asked one of the girls as she bounced over too him in excitement.

"twenty nine, thirty. Ready or not here I come" the boy uncovered his eyes and started looking around to find the others. He heard giggling from behind one of the toy boxes. "Found you!" He exclaimed when he saw the other boy. "Princess, where are you?" He called out

"Thank you, and you all look so beautiful" he smiled at them. "Of course I’ll help you. I help Rapunzel do up her dresses all the time" he said as he buttoned up the dress.

Rapunzel giggled quietly and held a finger up to her lips and the little boy hiding with her did the same and nodded.

"Thank you Eugene!"  They all chimed.  Once the girl’s dress was all done up she thanked him then bounced off in excitement, "Look!  Our colours match!"  a girl tugged at the red jacket on his back then pointed to her red dress.

She nodded, “Of course, princesses play all sorts of things, hide and go seek, dress up, pirates…”  She added in remembering what the girls told her, “Hide and go seek sounds like fun, who wants to count first?”  she asked.

Meanwhile the girls began picking out dresses for their pretend ball.  “Eugene!  I found you a jacket”  One of the girls held up a jacket.  It was much too small for him but she tugged at the bottom of his shirt and when he knelt down to her level she put it on his back like a cape.

Some of the boys scrunched up their noses when she mentioned that girls could play pirates. “Me! I want to count” one boy raised his hand. “I’ll count to 20. Ready, set, go” he covered his eyes.

He wasn’t aware that they wanted to dress him up too but he was willing to play along.  At least they weren’t trying to put a dress on him. “Oh thank you. Now I look much more princely”  he smiled at the girls. He tied the sleeves of the coat around his neck so that the jacket would stay on.

“Oh yes, of course. How could I forget that you need to dress up for the ball” he chuckled softly. Eugene looked through the dress up box. The box really was a lot more full since they last visited. “You’re all going to look so beautiful.”

"hmmmm. We can play hide and seek. We’re really good hiders. Do princesses play hide and seek?" The boys asked

"Well then you guys can play amongst yourselves.  You guys can be a band of girl pirates"  She grinned.  She giggled and nodded, "You tell them"  She encouraged.

"Good! Eugene, if you want you can go play with the girls then and I’ll go with the boys, we can swap".  Some of the girls ‘awwwh’d’  in disappointment and she quickly added, "Don’t worry, I won’t be gone forever"  she winked.

Eugene was a little nervous at the idea of going off to play with the girls without Rapunzel there to help him.  He could entertain boys with his adventure stories but he wasn’t so sure that he knew what would amuse the girls. The girls seeming disappointed in Rapunzel going to play with the boys only made him more worried “Come on, we’ll have fun girls” Eugene replied. “Besides, I want to dance with all you little princesses”

The girls grinned at Eugene as they remembered their dance.  One grabbed his arm and dragged him down to their level as they ran towards the dress up box.  “Come on!  We have to dress up for the ball first!”.

Rapunzel smiled back at the group as they dragged Eugene away then looked over towards the boys.  “Alright, so what do you guys want to do?”  She asked the group curiously.

“Oh yes, of course. How could I forget that you need to dress up for the ball” he chuckled softly. Eugene looked through the dress up box. The box really was a lot more full since they last visited. “You’re all going to look so beautiful.”

An Unlikely Meeting

notamurse-itsasatchel:

He started to pull her out of the water. When she yelled he looked behind him to see the pirate.  He started pulling her up faster, hoping he could get her into the ship in time. Just as she’d reached the deck the pirate grabed onto him.

Dorinda much rather would’ve had him drop her back into the water then let himself get caught by the pirate. She quickly scrambled to grab onto the railing of the ship and pull herself back on board. She rolled onto the deck and racked her brain on what to do as the thug grabbed Eugene from behind, and fortunately noticed a stack of plywood over by the edge of the ship. She hastily ran to grab a piece, and held it high above her head, blood pounding against her skull, as she swung it as hard as her arms could manage at the pirate. Once the damage was done, she smirked to herself and looked back at Eugene. “Plywood,” She shrugged. “Who knew, right?”

Eugene wriggled in the thugs arms, trying to get free. He’d spent too long in the castle and was now getting rusty on his quick escapes from thugs. At least Dorinda was free now. “Just run. I’ll be fine” Eugene called to Dorinda. Of course she didn’t listen. He ended being quite thankful that she didn’t listen as the grip of the thug fell away and he was free. “Good thinking” he nodded.  ”We should probably tie this guy up or something so we won’t have to worry about him when he wakes up.”

"I think Johnny didn’t want to play with us girls." Hearing that there were girl pirates made the girls clap excitedly. "good. We will tell Johnny and the other boys that the princess said that girls can be pirates"

"You were telling the girls that?" he blushed. "I mean..yes…yes I would." He couldn’t say no to those little girls and likely they wouldn’t go around telling everyone that he liked to dance. Even if they did this shouldn’t ruin his reputation too bad.

"Well then you guys can play amongst yourselves.  You guys can be a band of girl pirates"  She grinned.  She giggled and nodded, "You tell them"  She encouraged.
